WRA Education Foundation

The Washington Restaurant Association Education Foundation provides Washington state's hospitality community with education, training and mentoring through active outreach programs. The Education Foundation is truly "training tomorrow's workforce today."
To achieve this we will:
- PROPEL talented individuals into successful hospitality careers
- PARTNER with members, agencies and the community to promote food safety through ongoing training and certification
- PROMOTE the exchange of information among our diversified member base
- PROVIDE timely industry-specific resource materials to our members
Meeting the educational needs of restaurateurs
The WRA Education Foundation sponsors ongoing training featuring topics specifically tailored to restaurants, such as advanced food safety, food worker card, alcohol server and more. In addition, we offer ServSafe®, the National Restaurant Association's advanced food safety certification program, in many locations around the state. Discounts are available to WRA members.
Ensuring public safety through reliable training
The Education Foundation has developed in-house video training kits for restaurateurs which fulfill the Washington State Liquor Control Board alcohol service regulations and state regulations in food worker card certification.* With these videos, foodservice operators can train their employees on important topics such as WAC codes, the Danger Zone, cross contamination, sanitizing methods, germs and chemicals before employees work with the public.
* The Food Worker Card permit is currently approved by Seattle-King County and Clark County only. Other jurisdictions may follow.
Introducing talented people to amazing careers
WRA Education Foundation operates ProStart®, a restaurant school-to-career program in Washington. The curriculum, produced by the National Restaurant Association, is designed for high school juniors and seniors. Through ProStart, students learn about the diverse opportunities available in foodservice, along with valuable skills they need to succeed.
In addition, the foundation participates in numerous events, which enhance opportunities for individuals already in the workforce to succeed in hospitality careers.
